When to Light Candles

Most nights, Hanukkah candles should be lit at dark, around 6:00PM in Atlanta, but one may light later as long as members of the household are still awake. Special rules apply for before and after Shabbat. On Friday night, December 19, Hanukkah candles should be lit before Shabbat candles, by 5:13PM, and burn until at least 6:13PM. On Saturday night, December 20, Hanukkah candles should be lit after Havdalah (6:13PM).
