All About Purim with Rabbi Breit  - March 19

Food Four Thought with Rabbi Kongisburg - Tuesday, March 26 and April 2
The seder is full of fours; the four questions, the four sons, the four cups, the four times you have to announce that you’re hungry… Join our conversations as we reflect on each of these collections of fours, and why we have them in our seder.

Melton: Beyond Borders: A History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict - Mondays, February 5 to April 8 from 7:30-8:45PM
At B'nai Torah with Rabbi Joshua Heller

The current friction often felt between Muslims and Jews was not always the norm throughout history. Following the emergence of Islam, it was far better to be Jewish in a Muslim country than in a Christian one, and often, people of both faiths have found ways to coexist peacefully and productively. In this course, we’ll delve into this history and prior periods of enmity to gain a more nuanced perspective. Over ten sessions, we’ll examine the commonalities between Jewish and Islamic culture, as well as the sources of tension between these two monotheistic communities, challenging our assumptions and broadening our understanding.
This is part 1 of a 2-part course. Part 2 will begin in August. -

Melton: Pray it Forward - Thursdays, March 7 through April 11 from 9:30-11AM
At B'nai Torah with Rabbi Elizabeth Breit -
THIS CLASS IS BEING POSTPONED. Please stay tuned for more details!

Prayer provides a means to express gratitude. Prayer can be silent. Prayer can be communal. Prayer expresses our deepest needs and appreciation. This course follows the development of prayer, from the Tabernacle in the wilderness of Sinai, to the Temple in Jerusalem, to the Synagogue of today. The course will also explore some of the concepts behind prayer and blessings, as well as the power of meditation, as we link our past, present, and future to the immediate and the transcendent. This is a journey of the soul.

Reading the Megillah After October 7th - Thursday, March 21, 9:30AM-2:20PM

Before the joy of Purim, Ta'anit Esther is an opportunity to reflect on some of the holiday’s more serious themes. What can the Megillah teach us about understanding the aftermath of October 7th and holding together both realities of violence against Jews and violence by Jews? In this spirit, we’re co-sponsoring a day of online learning and prayer at “Reading the Megillah After October 7th: Ta’anit Esther with Hadar.” You can find information on the various sessions and teachers online. - Register here
