Virtual Braiding Connections Challah Bake - Thursday, June 3

INGREDIENTS:
2.25 tsp Yeast (or 1 packet)
1/4c (+1 tsp) sugar
1 tsp salt
4 cups of flour
1 cup warm water
2 eggs + 1 for egg wash
1/3 cup of Oil (I prefer vegetable)
Food dye (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow - we will mix some together to make other rainbow colors!)

TOOLS:
Make sure you have a mixing spoon/spatula, 6 bowls, clean hand towels, and a pan for the challah

RECIPE:
1. Take the yeast and 1 tsp of sugar and mix with 1 cup of warm water (make sure it's warm, but not too hot)
2. In a separate bowl mix together 2 eggs, sugar, salt, and oil, when it's blended slowly add 2 cups of flour and mix.
3.  Once it's mixed together, separate into 6 pieces evenly and place in bowls.  Once separated add the yeast mixture evenly into each bowl.  Mix each together to make wet.  Add separate food coloring in each bowl and mix together while wet.
4.  Slowly add 1/4 cup of flour in each bowl.  Add more flour to make into the dough where it's no longer sticky.  Kneed each into a ball and place a drop of oil in the bottom of each bowl to prevent sticking during the rise.  Then cover each bowl with a clean towel.
5.  Let rise for 60 minutes.  Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  Once each dough ball is risen you can re-knead the dough (but not too much!) and split each one in half.  You should have enough for 2 separate challahs and have six strands for each.
6.  Once Braided, place on an oiled or non-stick baking sheet.  Let rest for 10 minutes, add egg wash then bake at 375 for 24 minutes.
7.  Allow to cool, then enjoy!
