Dear Congregant,

So you want to volunteer? Check out the volunteer opportunities and then fill out the form below. If you find that you have talents that do not fall into these categories, let us know how you want to help in the box below. We will be in touch with you soon.

Brotherhood: We're looking for a few good men. Brotherhood at B'nai Torah is always looking for people interested in ushering during the High Holidays, helping with our blood drives and picnics throughout the year. We also need captains to help organize B'nai Torah sports teams.

Membership: We are looking for members who are looking to help other members. Want to help make new members comfortable or get them acclimated to CBT? Join our welcome wagon committee.

Chesed: We prepare Shiva meals - the meal served immediately after the funeral. This meal is intended for the immediate family of the deceased who is buried in Atlanta or for those who have had a funeral out of town, but who sit Shiva in Atlanta. Our group usually gets together on short notice, usually requiring 4 people, but takes only an hour to complete the meal.

Office volunteer: Can you collate flyers? Stuff envelopes? Stick labels on envelopes? Answer the phone? Are you available during the day? The B'nai Torah office needs you! We are always in need of volunteers to help with mailings, answer the phones and help with other "office" duties. Please join our volunteer pool.

Chevra Kadisha: The Chevra Kadisha is looking for volunteers. This committee sees to the preparation of deceased Jews for burial according to Jewish Law. Our members are often called upon at short notice for this sacred duty. Men and women separately care for members of the same sex. We would be willing to have you observe this ritual and then make a decision as to whether or not it is something you feel you are able to do. A training session is planned for later this year.

Programming: Great ideas for programming are always needed. Then we'll need people to make those ideas happen and run smoothly. Pick a program that you think CBT should offer, help plan the activity and then get all your friends to come with you.

Fundraising: The Fundraising committee is looking for people to develop and implement creative ideas for raising money at the shul. In addition to our regular activities like the annual directory (aka The Book), and advertising in the B'nai Today, we are looking for new ways to raise money to support various activities and improvements at the shul. Additionally, we support other committees' efforts for fundraising in their programming.

Sisterhood: Sisterhood is always looking for women to help with programming throughout the year! We host several holiday events and social/educational/community service programs. Additionally, we are instrumental in raising dollars for the shul thru our annual Donor event, the Gift Shop and organizing Mishloach Manot baskets for Purim. Additional projects include—High Holyday Babysitting, College Student Baskets, JTS Torah Fund and New Member Welcome! Mainly Sisterhood offers a unique opportunity to live-learn-share-link with the amazing women of B’nai Torah!

Gift Shop: We sell Judaica for all of your events and occasions. Our profits are used to benefit the synagogue. We can always use volunteers to take 2 hour shifts.

Ritual: CBT desires to have an even larger number of members involved in leading services, serving as Gabbais, and, in particular, assisting in helping make a minyan by committing to attend at least one morning or evening minyan once per week or on some other regular basis.

Youth Activities: Yeladim is for 3-5th graders while Kadima is our youth group for grades 6-8, and USY takes our kids through high school. We're looking for people that would like to help supervise programs for kids or help with a fundraising event for the group. We're also always in need of congregants willing to open your homes for a program.

Social Action: Looking to help the community? Help plan events that help outside of our CBT community. Coordinate Habitat builds, visit with our members at Eden Brook, or spend time tutoring - help us make our presence felt outside of CBT.
